Where There is Love, There is Life! I Can't Drink a Macchiato, But I Can Wear It!

Happy Monday to all you lovely ladies!  And if there is one item I want from an Anthro's Sale (if there is a sale) tomorrow, it's the D'armee Dress in Khaki.

Why do I love thee, let me count the ways...backward...

#5  Khaki is the color of the day.
#4  Who could say no to Military and Shirtdress all rolled into one.
#3  The ZIP front makes this dress GAPOSIS FREE! My girls will celebrate!
#2  I already have the Bow-Tied Beauty Boots and those Dark Red Opaque Tights in the bag.
And the #1 reason is...

Anthro D'armee Dress in Khaki - by Parameter - Orig $138
Opaque Tights in Red-  by Hue - Sale $6.50
Bow-Tied Beauty Boots-  by Lucky Penny - Orig $248
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DRESS FOR FIVE SOLID MONTHS.

COME ON ANTHRO!  The dress is NOT selling well.  It's fairly basic with a few cool details.  But it's not stunning. The reviews are only FOUR star. If you think adding two new colors will make me CAVE FULL PRICE...YOU'RE NUTS.  The truth is, if you wait too long, it will soon be too warm to wear long sleeves. You will end up giving these dresses away on 2nd CUTS.

Any one else with me on this?  I'm just sayin'!

Drawn To You Cardi - by Lilka - Anthro Orig $68 Sale $40 - Jan 2011
Macchiato Jumper - by Geminola - Anthro $148 Sale $40 - Jan 2011
Perfectly Plaid Tights - by Eloise - Anthro Orig $18 Sale $10 - Nov 2010
Bowtied Beauty Boots - Lucky Penny - Anthro $248 - Nov 2010
Vintage Tatted Snowflake Ornament Necklace - Jan 2011

I pounced on the Drawn To You Cardi the minute it hit sale.  True, I already have many Ivory Cardi's.  But none as flattering, or versatile as this one. In love with the cropped back!  It arrived the usual wrinkled mess.  I untied the draw strings, stretched them out flat and waved my magic wand over it.  All smooth and pretty now.

I wasn't hugely in love with the Macchiato Jumper at $148.  It's cute, but not FULL PRICE cute! When it went on sale, it suddenly became very cute.  But still not $70 cute.  So I added it to my Wish List.  Then I saw it had suddenly dropped to $40 in my Wish List.  Suddenly it was the most gorgeous dress I had ever seen.  And totally sold out!  So I called CS for a store search and found one in Atlanta GA.  I sized up one size. It just needed a bit of touch-up with my magic wand.  And Wallah!  I got me a very sweet dress.

Macchiato Jumper - by Geminola - Anthro $148 Sale $40 - Jan 2011
See Keiko of Keiko's TanPoPo wearing Anthro's Macchiato Jumper HERE.

I pretty much copied the lovely Keiko's outfit.  Except I morphed her Plaid Coat into the Perfectly Plaid Tights.  And those tights are so perfect with Anthro's Bow-Tied Beauty Boots I could not resist the pairing again.

It's true!  As much as I love FuFu coffee, my stomach can't handle the acid the coffee is processed with!  Boo-Hoo! I have Spiced Cider from Starbucks instead.
Perfectly Plaid Tights - by Eloise - Anthro Orig $18 Sale $10 - Nov 2010
Bowtied Beauty Boots - Lucky Penny - Anthro $248 - Nov 2010
Aspen Leaf Tote - by Orla Kiely AW09 - Garnet Hill Gifted - Dec 2009

See me wearing Anthro's Bow Tied Beauty Boots and Perfectly Plaid Tights HERE.

All I needed to complete this outfit is my Orla Kiely Aspen Leaf Tote from Garnet Hill. BTW,  Garnet Hill is fantastic to deal with.  Orla Kiely sold this bag for $385 full price.  Garnet Hill had it for much less, although I don't remember the original Garnet Hill price.  The sale price was $199.  Much less than Orla's sale price.  And Garnet Hill put the bag on sale before Christmas.  One month before Orla.  A few days after the bag was purchased the price dropped to $150.  I called Garnet Hill, and was credited back $50.  So if you see Orla Kiely on Garnet Hill.  Keep an eye on it.  You're bound to get the best price.

It's a Pre-Anthro coat!  I haven't worn this since early 2008.  So today I'm giving an old coat new life and much love.  Embroidered on the inside lining is the phrase...

Where There is Love, There is Life!

Yesterday we had this freakish afternoon rain shower.  It cleared out the gloom.  My babies started clamouring for some late afternoon sunshine and fresh Green grass.

Anthro's Engla Trench Meets Modcloth Dress for Cocktails and Caviar!

I have several Anthro Brand IDRA coats, but this is my first Elevenses.  Meet Anthro's Engla Trench!

Engla Trench - by Elevenses - Anthro Orig $199 Sale $100 - Jan 2011
Pin Dot Tights Brown - Carmel CA Anthro, Sale $5 - Apr 2010
Lass And Laddie Oxfords - by Poetic License - Anthro $98 Sold Out - Aug 2010
All Leather Green Line Satchel in Ochre - by Orla Kiely SS09 - Orla Kiely US Orig $598 Sale $398 - July 200

It's Shinny!  Has an exposed, off center, Gold zip! Non functioning double row of buttons! Machine Wash, Tumble Dry! Which I did last night so I didn't have to iron out all the wrinkles. A few discrete ruffles both front and back. Elastic wrist cuffs. Lovely Moss color, that is Brown or Green depending on the lighting. And Pockets!
Funny thing I read in an online Anthro Review.  The blogger stated she reviewed the Engla Trench as a reader request. She also claimed the coat had fake pockets that were sewn shut.  Not true! Ever heard of a small sewing tool known as a SEAM RIPPER?  I'm surprised that a blogger didn't know that manufacturers intentionally sew pockets shut on jackets and coats.

Oh yes!  Modcloth dress number two!  Meet the Cocktails and Caviar Dress.  Deep Dark Green! Exposed back zip. This is the same brand as the Frock Ballad Dress. Nicola!  Both dresses were a perfect fit in Medium.  And flattering on me as well.  However, this dress is 5 inches shorter than the Frock Ballad.  Look Out!

Cocktails and Caviar Dress - by Nicola - Modcloth $69 - Jan 2011
Anthro's Horizon Cardi - by Guinevere - eBay - Apr 2010

But the most fantastic detail is the Pop-Up flower.  It's completely edged with zipper. That's right!  Zipper along the Empire waist too.  Isn't this the most fantastic dress you have ever seen for $70?  Unlike Anthro dresses that run $128 and up full price, I don't have to wait for sale to afford a dress from Modcloth.

Cocktails and Caviar Dress - by Nicola - Modcloth $69 - Jan 2011

Stone Garden Necklace - Anthro $178 (Freshwtr Pearl, Serpentine, Citrine,
Smoky Qtz, Carnelian, Red Agate) - Dec 2009 Gifted
Since it's chilly in the office for a sleeveless dress, I'm wearing Anthro's Horizon Cardi.  But the Pop-Up, zipper bedecked, flower detail tends to get in the way of wearing a sweater. I rolled the buttoned edges of my sweater to the inside and fastened with safety pins to make a bolero.  Seriously, can you tell I did this?

I hadn't even planned to wear any jewelry.  This morning I happened to see Anthro's Stone Garden Necklace inside my glass case.  I knew this necklace was an excellent choice to jazz up this outfit with some brilliant natural stone color.

Now for the Grand finale.  I used to save jewelry for last.

Pin Dot Tights Brown - Carmel CA Anthro, Sale $5 - Apr 2010
Lass And Laddie Oxfords - by Poetic License - Anthro $98 Sold Out - Aug 2010
All Leather Green Line Satchel in Ochre - by Orla Kiely SS09 - Orla Kiely US Orig $598 Sale $398 - July 2009
I've been holding out on the Lass and Laddie Oxfords.  I purchased these months ago to go with Orla Kiely's All Leather Green Line Satchel in Ochre. Then I waited for the perfect outfit to come along.  It finally did. And what could be better than Green polka dot Pin Dot Tights by Eloise?  The $5 price tag!

And now I must get to work dear Readers.

Fem Ballerina Meets Quirky Lumberjack! The Bakersfield Fog!

I crossed my Fem Ballerina with her Rugged Side Kick today.  UPS delivered these Suede Booties last night.  I love them so much, I had to wear them today.

Normally I skip OOTD's on Tuesdays.  Everyone is usually engrossed in an Anthro Sale.  Including myself. But since there was none today, my plan worked out nicely.

Everyone should recognize the Maryam Tank by Little Blue Bird in SAND. I lost my patience a few weeks ago waiting for sale. What am I going to save?  At the most $30. IF ithe tank ever makes sale. Two colorways have already Sold Out.  I'm hoping Anthro will bless us with the Black version again. Pretty Please!

I was going for a style similar to the Anthro Outfit on the left.  I think I hit the mark in my own way.  I shopped my closet for the Maiden's Braids Cardi by Moth and the Cohort Corduroys in Lilac by Pilcro. I don't know what she's wearing on her feet.  And her pants may even be the the Cohort Corduroys.

I imagined the Upended Ankle Boots by Boutique 9.  After all, those were the inspiration for putting the outfit together.

These boots are available in one size only. So, if you think you might want these boots on Pop Back and maybe even 2nd cut a few weeks down the road, I suggest adding them to your Wish List from HERE  right now.  The October Catalog has already been overwritten by February.  They might Pop Back to the Sale Section if a few pairs are returned.  But Anthro has been scatter brained about that in the past.  Although I have noticed lately they are starting to do this more often.  And you will have the Style Number if you decide to have CS search them in store.

So meet the Heron Basket Weave Jacket by Tracy Porter I picked up for $20 last year. Also Anthro's Kennett Gloves by Portolano and the 100% Cashmere Springing Scarf by Sayami.  Because not only is it cold, but the dreaded Valley Fog has rolled in this week.

I hope everyone on the East Coast is are safe and warm today!

Vintage Snowflakes, Lace Roses, and Deep Purple Suede, Oh My! Outfit Inspiration!

Happy Monday.  I had a productive weekend.  I basically stayed home all weekend and produced stuff.  My friend Karen stopped by Sunday with fresh Naval Oranges from her tree.  So I made us sandwiches and sliced Oranges.  We then proceeded to drink a bottle of left over Champagne.  Then I proceeded to BLOG her ear off.

Yes, that's the dress right there.  Well it seems to have made it's way to Anywhere WA.  Do you guys happen to know where Anywhere is?  It's nowhere!  It doesn't exist.  That's where Anthro sends your stuff when they can't figure out where you live.  Even though my address is all over my account.

Cloaked In Roses Jacket - by Charlie and Robin - Anthro Orig $178 Sale $100 Red Tag $75 - Dec 2010
Reversible Tank in Brown Scoop Side - by Eloise - Anthro $24 - Jan 2009
My first order for the Cloaked In Roses Jacket by Charlie and Robin was a Pop Back from the November 2010 Catalog.  That order Cancelled. So here it is all the way from Soho NY.  I've been very lucky with cancellations the last 2 months.  This was the only exception.

See Keiko of Keiko's TanPoPo wearing the Clocked and Roses Jacket HERE.

Shop the Cloaked in Roses in Pop Backs HERE.  There is a size MEDIUM available as of Monday Jan 24th 1:14 PM PST. So check back often.  Runs TTS.  See reviews HERE.

As always, I had a difficult time finding the right top to layer under this sweatshirt.  Did I say sweatshirt? The body of the Jacket is made of Lavender sweatshirt material, with an Ivory lace overlay.  Which makes it easy and comfortable to wear. I went with a simple under layer. Anthro's Reversible Tank in Brown on the Scoop Side by Eloise.

Meet Anthro's Cotton Cargo Skirt by Idra .  I picked this little skirt up on eBay for a whopping $24.  This is the skirt I ordered in a size 2 after looking at the measurements in the description.  OK, so the 2 fit, but much too tight.  So I re-ordered in a size 4 last Sunday.  I had the skirt by Friday.

Shop my Cargo Skirt on eBay for $24 in sizes 0-10 HERE. Runs TTS. Order up if between sizes.  The fabric is stretch.  If anyone knows the Anthro name for this skirt I would love to know.

I have been dying to show you my Seville Heels in Purple Suede by Coclico .  Aren't they just Gorgeous.  I'm madly in love with Coclico, Chie Mihara, and Argilas.  So when I saw these on Pop Back during the Red Tag Sale I was all over these. They are like nothing I have ever owned. And very comfortable at 3.75 inches.  At 4 I fall flat on my face.  Even in Chie Mihara's.  Anthro's Dotty Cluster Tights by Eloise in Lavender seemed the perfect choice for this outfit.

No Anthro Zone Review - T Reese Coat! I'm a Friend Friday Blogger!

So many good things to tell today!

Shoelace Collar Coat - by Tracy Reese - Anthro Orig $288 Sale$150 - Jan 2011
Old Clems Peep Toes - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $168 Sale $90 - Jan 2011
All Leather Handbag in Ink - by Orla Kiely  AW08 - PerriBerri Orig $620 Sale $400 - April 2009
Last night I received a text that an old friend of 30 years was searching for me.  Along with the text came her number.  She screamed when I said "is this Kelli Sue." That made my evening and is why I am behind on my comment rounds.  But after 11 years we needed some catch up time. And friends are important.

And now for more friendship news. Collette at Statements In Fashion wrote wonderful things about me on today's Friend Friday Post.  I'm a true and genuine blogger that she follows.  Thank you Collette.

See Collette's Friend Friday Post HERE
Or you can click on my Statements in Fashion Badge on the Right Side Bar.
The big beautiful Dragonfly!

Collette came to my rescue when I asked for help a few months back with a Readers Challenge.  Since that time we connected in a special way that often happens when two bloggers find common ground. She is a naturally gorgeous woman, and has the Fashion Industry by the tail. And I was so excited when I saw that she has added me to her blog roll.

Collete recently entered the ELF Modeling Search. Of course I voted for her.  So please visit Collette and help me thank her by giving her your vote for the ELF Contest HERE. She is currently ranked number 20 out of over 900 entries.  That is just remarkable.

Shoelace Collar Coat - by Tracy Reese - Anthro Orig $288, Sale $150 - Jan 2011
Let's get rolling with a No Anthro Zone Review for the Shoelace Collar Coat by Tracy Reese. Anthro Orig $288, Sale $150. Style #19145028. Sold Out.

I know you are wondering ...why review a sold out item?  I have had several requests to review this coat. If you have this coat in your Wish List, I guarantee there will be Pop Backs in the next 2 weeks. And you could call CS for a store search. The style number is 19142058.

Is this more of me than you can handle?  The collar was the attraction for me.  And Kim at Fashion Momma wanted a better look at the collar.

I think a few will be returned over sizing issues.  One Anthro reviewer suggested 2 sizes up, another suggested one size down. Luckily I stuck with my True Size 4 for T Reese coats.  I am 5'6" tall, 130 lbs, 35-28-36, narrow across the shoulders with shorter than average arms for my height.  Yes Readers, I have gained an inch in my waist and 5 lbs over the holidays.

PINK POLY.  Oh well!  IN THE POCKETS TOO!
If you are small through the chest you may want to size down. The coat just closes over my chest, but is fairly big elsewhere, although this is a swing coat, so don't expect it to be fitted. The sleeve length is perfect if not an inch too long.  The length is well above the knee so I'm not cut off by the coat and made to look dumpy. The drape is gorgeous and would certainly look equally stylish with a dress.

Beware the puffy sleeves if you are broad shouldered.  This detail will emphasize!  The collar is by far the main attraction for me.

The coat is flattering closed!  Although I could crease the collar to get it to lie flat if left open.  I did spend about 10 minutes ironing the coat.  It smells fine and is clean.  The T Reese tag was still attached so I can be assured this was not an online return. The coat is of excellent quality.  Not a stray string or loose hem to be seen.  the lining at the hemline is closed. The shell is 50% wool, 50% Poly.  I know, but it's the new Poly and the coat is soft and not rough or itchy at all.

This was not offered in Petite sizing.

I'm going all the way with a full 5 star rating.  I can't mark down for the Polyester.  It's done to well, and kept the price point down.  The fabric blend will hold up longer, and not pill.

Now for today's TGIFO.  Thank Goodness It's Friday Outfit!

Here is a pictorial overview with captions.

Reining in the Easy Keeper with a Cream Confection! The Anthro Domino Effect!

A Reader asked me a few weeks ago how I come up with my post titles.  Most of the time I make up a statement using the names or brands of the Anthro items in my outfit. I could have gone several ways with this post.

Easy Keeper Skirt in Black Motif- by Tracy Reese - Anthro Orig $138 Sale $80 Red Tag $60 - Dec 2010
Thru-The-Clouds-Tank - by C Keer - Anthro Orig $68 Sale $40 - Jul 2010
Fair-Isle-Gloves in Taupe - by Echo - Anthro Orig $48 Sale $30 - Jan 2011
Friendly Terrain Belt Red - Anthro Orig $34 Sale $20 - Dec 2010
Orange Agate and Purpurite on Copper Chain - Etsy Shop fleurfatale $38 - June 2009

For Example:  "The Easy Keeper Gets Creamed," was my first title and would have sufficed. Or "The Easy Keeper Gets Loose with a Cream Confection."  I even thought about "Miss Albright and Tracy Reese on a Mission with Idra." Sometimes the title doesn't morph till the end.

Easy Keeper Skirt in Black Motif- by Tracy Reese - Anthro Orig $138 Sale $80 Red Tag $60 - Dec 2010
Thru-The-Clouds-Tank - by C Keer - Anthro Orig $68 Sale $40 - Jul 2010
Cream  Confection Coat in Cream - by Idra - Anthro $178 - Oct 2010
Fair-Isle-Gloves in Taupe - by Echo - Anthro Orig $48 Sale $30 - Jan 2011
Friendly Terrain Belt Red - Anthro Orig $34 Sale $20 - Dec 2010

Orange Agate and Purpurite on Copper Chain - Etsy Shop fleurfatale $38 - June 2009

The Easy Keeper Skirt by Tracy Reese, is made to fit me proportionally. When an Anthro reviewer commented that the fit was meant for a low hip to waist ratio (not hourglass on the bottom) I pounced on both versions when they hit sale and were Red Tagged.

The skirt is basic yet appealing with the layered tulip hemline. There is no large detailing, or ruffles to get in the way at the wide waistband. Just tuck and belt over a top.  Add a short Blazer, Cardi or Jacket. Pick tights that coordinate with belt or top.  Slip on boots or pumps and your good to go.  It took me about 30 minutes once I recognized how awesome the tights matched the plaid in the skirt.

Finding a top to go with my outfits is always a sticking point for me. My closet lacks basics, but I am working to remedy the situation! I tried several tops and finally decided on the Thru-The-Clouds Tank by C Keer.  I added an Etsy Necklace in Bright colors, and the Fair-Isle-Gloves, to rev-up the Pink Tank and White Coat.
Cream  Confection Coat in Cream - by Idra - Anthro $178 - Oct 2010
This is only the second time out for the Cream Confection Coat by Idra.  If you own this coat, then you probably hear a lot of  "OMG, where can I find that stunning coat?" Uh-oh!  Wet hair alert.

See me wearing the Cream Confection Coat by Idra in an outfit with Floreat's In The Trees Skirt HERE.

Friendly Terrain Belt Red - Anthro Orig $34 Sale $20 - Dec 2010
Orange Agate and Purpurite on Copper Chain - Etsy Shop fleurfatale $38 - June 2009
I threw in the yet unworn Friendly Terrain Belt.  The Reddish color is almost a perfect match to the Copper colored Cockle Shell Tights (I couldn't grab these tights on Pop Back fast enough) and the plaid stripes in the Easy Keeper Skirt.

Reversible All Leather Shoulder Bag in Cream/Olive - Olive Side - Orla Kiely Orig $564 Sale $395 AW09 - Jan 2010

I have finally got a handle on how to style the Loose Rein Boots by Miss Albright. This is the first time you are seeing them today.  Anthro had the color listed as Grey.  Oh no!  These are Olive-Brown. They also scratch as easily as the Berry Stitched Boots, and have gone through my Footwear Love Program. You can  find my suggestions for giving love to your footwear on a tab under the Header. This is also the first time you have seen the Olive side of the Reversible Leather Bag by Orla Kiely.  You have already seen the Cream side of the Reversible Leather Bag. Oh Yes! Two Orla Handbags for the price of one.

I happened to notice LC of Bella Seattle wearing the Loose Rein Boots with the Wightwick Manor Shirtdress. She shared her Pop Back in size 4, so I immediately ordered the dress.  Then I saw Keiko of Keiko's TanPoPo (see last photo of her Post) wearing the Shirtdress with the Bow-Tied Beauty Boots.  So I am super excited and worried at the same time.  What if the dress looks horrible on me or doesn't fit?

This is the first time I have found myself drawn into the ANTHRO DOMINO EFFECT.  But that isn't the end! Last night I realized how similar my Cockle Shell Tights are in color to the tights worn by this Anthro Model, who is also wearing the Bow-Tied Beauty Boots.  So now I am looking forward to the D'armee Dress going on sale.  Unfortunately Anthro has added TWO additional colors.

Is this a new conspiracy contrived by Anthro, or am I just now experiencing this EFFECT? Have any of my Readers ever been robbed blind by this ANTHRO DOMINO EFFECT?
Please tell me about your experience with ADE...

I think I kinda like it! My wallet begs to differ!

Happy Monday and Martin Luther King Day! So where are all my orders for the last 2 weeks? Stuck on the Atlantic Seaboard due to weather.  What a shame!

I planned two outfits, and had both posts ready to go. When I tried on the skirt for today's outfit...IT WAS TOO TIGHT. No fear.  It's a $24 Idra skirt from eBay. I re-ordered the Skirt in a 4. But I'm disappointed!  I was excited about showing off my new Anthro Seville Heels.  That's what I get for being proud. The post is ready to go as soon as the size 4 Skirt arrives.

Before I began Blogging, there were three colors I would not wear.  I am wearing all those colors today at the same time.  I'd say that's a fairly amazing feat for me. I'm also well layered up. A style I never went for.

The cherry on top of today's outfit is Anthro's Falling In Love Jacket by Elevenses (thank you LC of Bella Seattle who placed this Vest/Jacket on hold for me at the Seattle Store).  Pressing the ruffles so they would lay evenly was a chore. Not to mention the fussy wool fabric is a lint magnet.  But this unique vest is worth the extra effort.  Next down is my one and only Forever 21 purchase to date from the local mall, F21's Cinched Raglan Top.  And the base layer that was needed due to a deep V neck is Anthro's Reversible Tank by Eloise on the Scoop side.

I've been waiting for the Hop, Skip, Jump Skirt by Ett Twa to go on sale after seeing Kelly of Fashion Fuel wearing it when she first arrived in NYC.

How to Shop for Pop Backs from your Wish List.

Have you ever stumbled across an item you wanted but your size is out of stock?  No fear.  I almost always find that item eventually. First I have to get the item into my Wish List. I add the item in any size that is still in stock.  Then I check for Pop Backs often Monday through Saturday.  Just click the drop down selection arrow if you are looking for a particular color, then click the drop down for the size selection to see if your size has Popped Back into stock, then click update, and add to your shopping bag. This is shopping for POP BACKS from your Wish List.  You would normally do this for items that were never presented in the catalogs, or items from catalogs that have been written over, or any item that has Sold Out. Stock is returned Monday - Saturday during the day, and those returns Pop Back into Stock.

This is why I never delete anything I still want from my Wish List.  Plus, if the item Pops Back you can share this link in a Public Wish List. You can then Search the name of the owner of the Wish List and add the item to your Shopping Bag.

For example: Size 6 has been out of stock in the Cascading Bow Dress forever, but when I checked this morning an 8 had Popped Back in stock.  Anyone want this dress in size 8?  Just send me an email.

Do you want to read the reviews for this dress first?  Just Google "Anthropologie Cascading Bow Dress Reviews."

I hope all this info is helping my Readers. I would love to know if it is.

On the very top of my outfit is Anthro's Infinity Belt.  I'm surprised this little snap closure belt doesn't pop right off me with 6 layers below. I love the tuxedo look at the back with the Vest.

I was shocked by the deep scratches and dry leather on my Berry Stitched Boots. It's from the pedals in my car and the legs of my desk at work.  Every time I hit one, I cringe at the gouge I just caused.

I regularly GIVE LOVE to my footwear. But these boots take a beating every time I wear them.  Which seems to be every other week or more. So I grabbed my pretty little bag of  Footwear Love I keep in a handy location (the back of the closet door knob).

Shoe and Boot Care Stash
Saddle Soap, Mink Oil and Shoe Polish
Hoofmaker Mane and Tail
Soft Brush for Buffing
Lots of old rags
Pledge
And a Pretty Bag to keep it in.

OK!  So the Pledge was in the Pantry.  Why Pledge you may ask?  I'll get to that near the end.

Normally I get by with liberally applying Hoofmaker Mane and Tail and buffing it in well with a soft rag.  After all, it's a moisturizer that contains lanolin.  Not only does it condition and protect leather, it's great for my nails. I keep some in my office for emergency shoe care.

Ah, but the scratches are another story. I needed to remove those first. I went at it with Brown Shoe Polish. I worked the polish into the scratches with a soft rag and let that dry for 5 minutes. Then I buffed that with a soft brush.  Still didn't cover that well.  So I did it again this time daubing it gently over the scratched areas.  I let that dry again and did not buff.  That was the ticket.

I followed with Mink Oil, applied sparingly, and worked it in with a soft cloth.  It took at least 30 minutes to do the pair.

Now I understand why cowboys have such dirty boots.  Jeez!  Shoes are smaller, easier and faster to polish. But I do love my Anthro boots, so well worth the effort to have them pretty and new looking.

BTW, Mink Oil, like other leather protectors, water proofer, and moisturizers, will darken most leather.  But it's better than walking around in scratched, decaying, unprotected Footwear. Just don't use it on suede or fabric shoes.

About the other stuff in the picture.

Someone told me once to use Saddle Soap on my boots.  Ba-ha!  Don't ever use it on textured leather.  It dries into the cracks and turns White.  It's very hard to spread and almost impossible to get completely off without leaving that White residue behind.

Pledge is wonderful stuff.  I use it on my Stainless Stove and Dishwasher. Besides Wood, it also works great on Marble, Granite, and Leather.  You heard me right, Leather.  So I have, in a pinch, used it on footwear.  Works great.

Tapestry Tights - by Eloise - Anthro Orig $18 Sale $10 Red Tag $7.50 - Dec 2010
Berry Stitched Boots - by Lucky Penny - Anthro Orig $248, Sale $130 - Nov 2010
Sepia Crocus Bag or Dark Multi Stem Tote - by Orla Kiely AW08 - June 2008

As you can see my Berry Stitched Boots by Lucky Penny look gorgeous again.  No longer as Purple as they used to be.  My Mother calls this color Ox Blood. Yuck! And I adore Anthro's Tapestry Tights by Eloise , so much I ordered a second pair the other day on Pop Back from my Wish List.
How do you care for your Footwear?  Any comments on better products and techniques are greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't it be great if they could come up with something that prevents ugly scratches. Footwear makers are being forced to use less polluting techniques to tan leather.  Less processing makes the leather softer and more prone to scratching.  So it seems our footwear won't last as long, so we will be throwing away more shoes and handbags into the landfills. How is that protecting the environment?  It's a vicious cycle.

Here is what is available in my Public Wish List today: Just search lauramartinsemail@yahoo.com from your Wish List.
